Hurricane Emilia Projected Path Prompts No Mexico Alert


LOS ANGELES (LALATE) ? The current Hurricane Emilia projected path is prompting no alert for residents of Mexico, officials tell news. Hurricane Emilia is moving across the western Pacific Ocean but her projected path is not putting Baja Mexico or other sections of Mexico on alert today. Additionally, Hurricane Daniel is heading further westward and losing strength Monday.

The National Hurricane Center in a news briefing today said that Emilia has strengthening into a hurricane. But Hurricane Emilia currently has no threat to land. Emilia is roughly 760 miles south of Baja California, officials tell news. She is moving northwest, however, at 12 mph. As a result, the NHC tells news today that ?there are no coastal watches or warning in effect?.

Emilia is reporting ?moving toward the . .. northwest .. and the general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days with some decrease in forward speed?, officials tell news. NHC says Hurricane Emilia will become a category two hurricane later today, however, and a major hurricane on Tuesday. But as on Monday July 9, 2012, she is fostering no threat to land.

In related news, Hurricane Daniel is moving westward and losing strength. ?This general motion is expected to continue during the next couple of days accompanied by a slight increase in forward speed?, officials tell news.
